Jack Flynn : President and CEO

Jack has built a life-long career in the seafood industry gaining first-hand experience as a young deckhand and fisherman on fishing trawlers and offshore lobster boats out of Newport, Rhode Island, while studying marine affairs and economics at the University of Rhode Island in the 1980s.

By the time he started his first business venture in the seafood industry at 28-years-old, Jack had already gained invaluable experience and knowledge as a fisherman and through his work as an advocate for a New England lobbying group where he represented 250 boats from Maine to North Carolina that were involved in every fishery along the East Coast. With 30 years of grassroots experience in all facets of the industry, Jack has amassed a vast network of worldwide fishing fleets and international fish merchants.

His keen insight into the evolution of the industry and its present day status in the world economy is learned through independent research, career experience and world travel. Jack has traveled to 15 countries in 30 years, directly working with processors and fishermen to deliver the best quality products in the market for his customers. He has owned and operated seafood enterprises in Kodiak, AK, Seattle, WA and Newport, RI, in addition to his New Bedford facility and an office in China.

As an industry expert, Jack's knowledge of the operations of worldwide fishing ports, the availability and access to quality and sustainable resources and transportation distribution systems is unmatched in the industry. He is passionate about preserving the resources of fisheries nationally and worldwide, and committed to educating the public about the advantages of a sustainable seafood industry and the benefits of fish as a primary source of food that can lead to a healthier lifestyle.

Today, Jack owns and operates a newly refurbished, state-of-the-art, 25,000-square-foot processing plant, packaging multispecies products under the MarSelect brand. His worldwide network of resources, cutting-edge fish processing techniques and top-of-the-line machinery, along with his commitment that all products he buys, processes and sells be traceable to their country of origin and be procured only from sustainable fisheries ensures the finest quality of seafood for his customers.
